Second Confederate Flag
|
 |
For those who wanted a complete severance
of ties with the Union, the "Stars and Bars" resembled the Stars and
Stripes too closely to be acceptable. In May of 1863, the Confederate Congress
placed the famous Battle Flag of the Confederacy onto a white field in place of
the alternating red and white "bars" to make the "Stainless Banner". |
